This year's International ShakeOut Day is October 19, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home!
At 10:19 am (local time) on 10/19, you can join people across the world practicing earthquake safety. To register as a ShakeOut participant, visit Great ShakeOut.
Also, locally, Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services is collaborating with numerous county, state, and federal agencies, along with some local community based organizations, to provide a training opportunity to practice real-life communication scenarios for a large earthquake event. Volunteers are needed for this local preparedness drill.
To participate, you have the option of reporting from the field as an unaffiliated amateur radio operator, CERT, or SHEPT team member, or assisting at the OES Emergency Operations Center or Mobile Communications Unit.
If you would like to volunteer, in addition to the ShakeOut registration mentioned above, please visit 2023 Great Shake Out 2023 Volunteer Signup to complete a Humboldt OES volunteer registration form.
